Sonauris
Privacy policy

Who we are
Sonauris is a small UK-based business that turns voice recordings into engraved keepsakes. When you place an order, we collect a small amount of personal data to fulfil it. This page explains what we collect, why, where it lives, and the rights you have over it.
What we collect
When you place an order, we collect:
- Your name (used on the engraving and to address you in confirmation emails)
- Your email address (to send you order confirmations and your permanent recording link)
- Your shipping address (collected by Stripe at checkout, used for delivery)
- Your payment details (handled entirely by Stripe; we never see your card number)
- The audio recording you upload (used to generate your unique pattern, then stored so the QR code on your piece can play it back)
- An order number and the pattern parameters generated from your recording
Where your data is stored
- Order details (name, email, address, pattern data): Supabase, hosted in the EU
- Audio recordings and QR code images: Cloudflare R2, encrypted at rest
- Payment records: Stripe (PCI-compliant, regulated by the FCA in the UK)
- Email delivery records: Resend
Why we keep your recording
The QR code on your keepsake links to a page that plays your recording back. For that to keep working, we need to host the audio file indefinitely. You can ask us to delete it at any time (see the "Your rights" section below). Once we do, the QR code on your piece will no longer play.
How long we keep things
- Audio recordings and pattern data: kept for as long as you want the QR code to work, or until you ask us to delete them
- Order history (name, address, payment record): kept for 7 years to comply with UK tax law
- Email delivery logs: 30 days
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Ask us what data we hold about you
- Have inaccuracies corrected
- Have your data deleted (the "right to be forgotten")
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
- Object to how we are using your data
Cookies
We use a single technical cookie (browser session storage) to remember whether you have seen the intro animation, so we do not replay it on every visit. That is it: no analytics cookies, no tracking, no ad cookies.
Children
Sonauris is not directed at children under 16. If you upload a recording of a child's voice, you confirm you have the right to do so as their parent or guardian.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if anything material changes and bump the "last updated" date at the top. For significant changes affecting how we use existing customer data, we will email you directly.
